Baby’s First Halloween Without the Fuss

Baby’s First Halloween Without the Fuss

Baby’s first Halloween doesn’t need a complicated costume, a late night or a stressed-out parent. The sweetest versions are usually the simplest — a comfortable outfit, a few photos and a little seasonal charm.

Here’s how to keep it easy.

Skip the costume that won’t last five minutes

Newborns and little babies don’t need masks, bulky layers or anything scratchy. If it isn’t comfortable for a nap, a nappy change and a cuddle, it probably isn’t the one.

Look for a soft romper, jumpsuit or two-piece that already has a Halloween touch — pumpkins, a gentle “Boo” print or a simple knit. That’s usually more than enough.

Choose something they’ll actually wear again

The best first Halloween outfits aren’t one-night costumes. A pretty pumpkin romper, waffle set or embroidered knit can be worn for photos, family visits and cooler autumn days long after 31 October.

That’s why we keep our Halloween pieces soft, simple and wearable — not over the top.

Keep the photos simple

You don’t need a styled set. Natural light, a blanket, a pumpkin or two and your little one in something sweet will do more than a complicated setup.

If you want extra charm, add a matching headband or a little tutu set. If you don’t, a romper on its own still photographs beautifully.

Think comfort first

A few things that make the day easier:

  • Easy nappy changes (zips and snaps matter)
  • Soft fabric against new skin
  • Room to layer if the evening cools down
  • An outfit they can sit, wriggle and sleep in

A little seasonal, not scary

First Halloween is about the memory, not the theme park version. Soft pumpkins, gentle prints and cosy knits feel right for a baby. Save the bigger costumes for when they’re old enough to enjoy them.
